I'm Moving

It is Official. I finally found an apartment to move into. It is in a quiet spot, has two decent sized bedrooms, new appliances, good carpets, electric heat and water. I can have my Satelite Dish and DSL, and the rent is very reasonably priced. I will be moving in on January 1 2006. I have a six month lease to begin with.

I'm looking forward to starting a enw chapter and a new year.

Christmas is over

... and I'm back in town again. I had a good time visiting my brother and his family. I got a few neat gifts, and was able to give some good gifts away too. I guess it's time to get back to work and a normal schedule. I will be trying very hard this week to find a place to live as my deadline is Jan 1 2006.

Work Computer

I am getting to upgrade my computer at work. It is already much better than my home PC, and will kick butt with its upgrades. I am adding another GB of memory to bring me up to 2 GB total. I am adding a second 20.1" widescreen monitor - so now I'll have 2 of them - That is a lot of desktop space. And to run my new monitor I am adding a GEFORCE 7800GT 256MB Graphics card. To bad I don't play games at work because this setup would be great for it.

I am also looking at building a computer for a friend. It makes me want to build one for myself. I do need a new home PC, but I can spend the money better elsewhere (paying off my cadillac). Someday I'll get a new PC at home.

New Rancid Album in 2006

Rumor has it that Rancid began working on a new album that is due out sometime in the first part of 2006. I'm excited for more new rancid music, and a possible tour.

"The Simpsons" Season 7

Today is the day that Season seven comes out. I am looking forward to finally finding out who shot Mr burns.

In other news I am still looking for an apartment.

I will be missing the Wyoming basketball game at CSU this year because it happens to be on the same day that I am going to the Pennywise concert.

I am still looking for a new band to enjoy so let me know of any recomendations.

Firefox, DVD's and I'm hungry

Nothing really exciting to report today. I downloaded several firefox extensions today. There are some good ones out there. I really like the Open page in ie in a firefox tab. Very usefull for crappy pages that don't load like they should in firefox.

I tried a PAL DVD editing trick where you edit all the IFO files on the dvd and change the settings to NTSC. It worked for my dvd player, although the video isn't perfect - a bit chopy at times, but easily watchable.

I've been craving a steak for the last several days now. I may have to travel "outback" tonight and get one.

Cold Weather

It was extremely cold when I woke up this morning. My cadillac's eternal thermometer read -20 degrees. Online is listed the temperature at -26 with a windchill of -37.

Fortunately it has now warmed up to a balmy -9. It has been a while since we had really cold weather like this.

I will be at the January 25th show. They are playing with No Use for a Name, Suicide Machines, and Love = Death

See you in the pit!

Beck is releasing remixes of his Guero album on the 13th of December (same day that Simpsons Season seven comes out) I have heard some of the remixes, and there are a few that I actually like better than the original. I would recomend picking this up when it comes out. You can sample some of the remixes here. Enjoy

Pictures from Green Day concert

Here is a picture of me and some friends going to see Green Day in concert. As usual it was a good show, and we had a lot of fun.

Usenet Leeching

I had used usenet before, and while it worked well, there were to many drawbacks. I was recently turned on to a program called newsleecher. This program implements a great search feature, and download feature. Combined with a usenet subscription to a place such as news hosting and I'm downloading at 100% of my maximum bandwidth (currently 325 kb/s). Once again my limitation is bandwidth.

In other news it is because of bandwidth that I didn't move this week. I found a place I liked, but found out that I could not get High speed DSL there. Cable is ok, but has crap for upload speeds. I need at least 3MB down and 1 MB up - so I'll keep looking.

I finally finished some hacks to my Direvtv Tivo - Adding MVR functionality. My tivo will play MP3's off of my computer, and let me view pictueres. I can also transfer video from my tivo to DVD via my computer. Not to mention having it accessabel througth the web to schedule recordings. TV sure has come a long way...
